Before diving deep into the world of cactus and succulent collecting, I had a completely different life.
Believe it or not, I used to be a videographer and editor. I spent years behind the camera, capturing everything from music videos to events.
But during all that, photography was always a hobby of mine—specifically macro photography.
If you're wondering what macro photography is, it's all about those close-up shots that reveal the details you normally wouldn't notice.
You know, the tiny textures, patterns, and hidden beauty that most of us miss with the naked eye.
What I loved about macro photography was the ability to capture all those fine details, whether it was a dew drop on a petal or the intricate spines on a cactus. It made me see things in a new way and appreciate the beauty in the smallest of things.
Fast forward to 2014 when I got back into collecting plants. This photography hobby of mine really came in handy. It helped me showcase the stunning details of the plants I was collecting—the way light hits the waxy coating of a succulent leaf or the beautiful patterns in cactus spines.
It was like seeing these plants in a whole new light, and I couldn’t resist sharing those shots with fellow plant lovers.
So, while I might not be working as a videographer anymore, I’ve found a whole new way to use my camera skills to highlight the amazing world of cacti and succulents.
